  • “In Delaware, it is important I continue to work on things such as bringing good jobs, working on strengthening our supply chains, as well as our environment and our health.

“I also want to work with the new president on reproductive freedom. As you know, Lawrence, not [only] do I have a daughter and a daughter-in-law, who I care have the same rights to do with their bodies as I did, but I have a granddaughter who is here because of IVF. We want to continue to focus on our rights and freedoms.

“We are all in it together, and, as Vice President Harris had said, we are ready to win — for the people.”

  • “Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester from Delaware took the stage at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago on Tuesday, to emphasize the stakes of former president Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.

“However, the state’s first elected woman and person of color congressmember encouraged voters to not lose their ‘bright hope.’”

  • “Democratic Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, a Black woman who is running for an open seat […] invoked the memory of her grandmother, who she said for 70 years attended a church in Philadelphia called Bright Hope. “It’s not just a name; it’s how I approach my life. It’s how I’ll lead as Delaware’s senator, and it’s how Kamala sees the future of America,” she told the Democratic convention.”

  • “We don’t want to traffic in just demonizing; we don’t want to traffic in just talking about some people getting ahead. This [message] is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen, and that’s why, in my speech, I talked about the church that my grandmother attended for 70 years: Bright Hope. It’s a way of being and especially when things feel dark.

“We’ve come out of a pandemic. We can’t forget that we experienced, collectively, the trauma of George Floyd’s murder. We have come through World Wars. For me, this moment is — as Jim Clyburn says, it’s not the most important election, it’s the most consequential.”

  • “You will also hear about her vision for the future of this country. And I love the [economic] opportunity agenda because, for [Kamala Harris]. It’s not just about people getting by; it’s about getting ahead. And, so, tonight, you’re going to hear about that.

“You’re also going to hear joy.

“I think that has been a signature of this whole convention. My speech was about Bright Hope, the church my grandmother attended for seventy years. And, lastly, [you’re going to hear about] freedom, and like Tim Walz, who I had the opportunity to serve with,  I got the best title of my life last year, which is “grandmother,’ and it’s because of IVF. So, we’re going to fight for reproductive freedom, as well as our democracy.”

  • “We want people to understand, don’t sleep on Delaware. We got to get the turnout, and that’s true for Kamala and Tim as well. Turnout is everything. It’s everything. When we turn out, we win, but people have to connect their vote with their life.”
