Wilmington, Del. — Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester’s statewide “Delivering for Delaware” tour recently highlighted her achievements on jobs and her work on behalf of organized labor.
Last week, Blunt Rochester hosted a breakfast with labor leaders. She highlighted the critical role unions play in supporting the American economy and middle class.

The Congresswoman spoke about her grandparents who were unionized steel workers; their union membership made an impact in her life.
“It has been my honor to work with unions,” Blunt Rochester said. “Particularly because my grandparents stay in my head so much. When we talk about affording opportunities for people to be in the middle class — my grandparents came from Georgia with nothing and literally working at that [steel] plant afforded them the opportunity to give things to their kids and then their kids to give things to us.”
Blunt Rochester also drew on her experience as Delaware’s Secretary of Labor and her work in Congress as the co-founder of the bipartisan Future of Work Caucus, which brings together members from both sides of the aisle to develop policies that support workers and families in a rapidly changing economy.
The Congresswoman engaged with labor leaders, union members, and voters as she and her campaign team joined The Delaware AFL-CIO’s Labor Day Parade in Downtown Wilmington.
Happy Labor Day from Team LBR!
